1 cup Nestlé EVERYDAY Milk Powder + 3 ½ cups hot water
2 tbsp ghee
1 cup vermicelli
½ cup condensed milk
5 tbsp brown sugar
½ tsp cardamom powder
15 cashew nuts
water (as required)
Heat 1 tbsp ghee and fry cashew nuts until golden.
Then sauté sweet raisins until they plump up.
Remove these to a plate and keep them aside for garnish.
Add another tbsp ghee and roast vermicelli for 3-4 minutes on medium flame until it becomes light brown.
Add Nestlé EVERYDAY Milk and mix well. Keep the heat to a low or medium-low and simmer until the vermicelli softens. Do stir at intervals so that the milk or vermicelli does not stick or get burnt at the bottom of the pan.
Next add salt, brown sugar, and condensed milk and mix well. Bring it to a boil.
Sprinkle the cardamom powder.
Turn off the heat when it reaches a thick pouring consistency. It will thicken further after cooling.
Garnish Payasam with fried nuts and raisins. Serve hot or chilled as desired.
