Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200 g) rice
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1 pc cinnamon
  • 5 cloves
  • 10 black peppercorns, coarsely crushed
  • 20 g ginger, finely shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 100 g beef, cut into 1 cm cubes
  • 100 g boneless chicken thigh, cut into 1 cm cubes
  • 100 g shelled prawns, left whole or cut into 1 cm cubes
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) thick coconut milk
  • 60 g NESTUM® All Family Cereal Original
  • 10 kaduk (wild pepper) leaves, finely shredded
  • 10 sprigs lemon basil (daun kemangi), roughly torn
  • Salt to taste
  • Additional NESTUM® All Family Cereal Original to sprinkle over porridge

Directions

  1. Wash rice in several changes of water and cover with 2 litres of water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 30 minutes or until rice turns into a soft, creamy and thick porridge.
  2. While rice is cooking, heat oil in a pan and add cinnamon, cloves and pepper, frying for a few seconds until fragrant. Add ginger and garlic and fry till golden brown before adding beef and chicken.
  3. Stir this into the simmering porridge and continue cooking on low heat, stirring occasionally. If porridge looks too thick, add another 500 ml of water.
  4. Lastly, stir in prawns, coconut milk and NESTUM®. When porridge comes back to the boil, add the shredded herbs and cook a further 5 minutes. Season to taste with salt and take pan off the heat. Serve hot, sprinkling an additional spoonful of NESTUM® over each serving.
